William H. McRaven
Admiral William H. McRaven has been a member of our board of directors since 2026. In addition, Admiral McRaven currently serves on the board of directors of ConocoPhillips and serves on the advisory board of Haveli Investments and several private and non-profit boards, including the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Football Foundation, the International Crisis Group, and The Mission Continues. He previously served on the advisory board of Palantir Technologies Inc.
Admiral McRaven is a Senior Advisor to Lazard, Inc. and is a Professor of National Security at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously served as Chancellor of the University of Texas System from January 2014 until May 2018. He is a retired U.S. Navy Four-Star Admiral (SEAL), and during his time in the military, commanded special operations forces at every level, eventually leading all U.S. Special Operations.
Admiral McRaven is a recognized authority on U.S. foreign policy and has advised Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and other U.S. leaders on international relations and security matters. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and received a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School.
