Biography

Jon Winkelried is Chief Executive Office and a Partner of TPG. He joined the firm in 2015 as Co-CEO and became sole CEO in 2021. He also chairs TPG Inc.’s Executive Committee.

Mr. Winkelried currently serves on the board of Creative Planning and has previously held board positions with MX Technologies, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Evolution Media amongst others. Within the last five years, he also served on the board of McAfee Corp, then a public company. He is a trustee of Vanderbilt University and previously served as a trustee of the University of Chicago from 2006 to 2011.

Prior to TPG, Mr. Winkelried spent over 27 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was President and Co-Chief Operating Officer, a Partner, and a member of the board of directors. Before joining TPG in 2015, Mr. Winkelried managed JW Capital Partners from 2010 to 2013. He was also a Strategic Advisor and Partner at Thrive Capital, a New York-based venture capital firm focused on technology investing, from 2011 to 2015.

Mr. Winkelried holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
